The Geography Department at Holy Trinity Academy aims to provide students with a passion for learning about the world and celebrate in its diversity.

Geography is a dynamic and relevant subject for all young people:

Geography inspires pupils to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world, their values and responsibilities to other people, to the environment and to the sustainability of the planet

The department is well resourced with 2 experienced specialist geography teachers and a wide array of resources providing students with a varied learning experience.

Geography is a well thought of subject; it is part of the English Baccalaureate in key stage 4 and is well opted for at Key stage 4 and Key stage 5. Geography is well valued by employers because it develops pupil’s personal learning and thinking skills (PLTs) such as teamwork, independent enquiry and creative thinking. It can help students pursue careers in fields including, Settlement, the Environment, Travel, Tourism and leisure, Government and Policy amongst others (for more information see: http://www.rgs.org/OurWork/Schools/Careers+and+Further+Study/Careers+with+geography/Careers+with+geography.htm).

The department takes pride in pushing students to reach their full potential and offers fieldwork opportunities throughout the curriculum.
