PTFA

WELCOME to the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association for Holy Trinity Academy, Telford.   You are automatically a member now that your son/daughter is enrolled in our school!

Your child’s time at HTA is very important and most of us want to help with their education and wellbeing during the years they spend at the school.  So, in consultation with the staff, we do whatever we can to help.

What is the PTFA and what does it do?

All parents and teachers are automatically members of the association and the ‘F’ in the PTFA means carers, grandparents and the wider community can also get involved. We welcome anyone who wants to support our school.

We actively raise funds to support the school with a number of initiatives to enrich our children’s education, overall development and school experience.

Examples of how our PTFA helps at HTA:

  • Fundraising – in 2016, 2017 and 2018 we ran a Christmas Fair the first week in December.  Unfortunately we did not have enough volunteers to run one in 2019, but we did run a Christmas Chocolate and Biscuit Tombola which was a great success.
  • Serving refreshments at a variety of key events/meetings – as often as we can, we serve refreshments at school concerts, parents’ evenings and Yr 7 and Sixth Form information evenings. In 2020 we also plan to run the refreshments at the Yr 7 Camping nights in June!
  • Selling second-hand uniform – parents are able to send used (but clean!) uniform and PE kit in to the school office.  Once there is sufficient quantity, the PTFA plan to hold a second-hand uniform sale.

How do I join?

The PTFA is a perfect way for you to engage with your child’s education and school.  You do not have to be a committee member, do the accounts or even bake cakes!  If you don’t have much time, but would like to help, there are plenty of ways you can join in.

First, you are invited to come along and find out what the PTA is all about at our monthly meeting on the 1st Thursday of every month during school term.

To deliver a variety of events and activities, we need people to get actively involved.  We always need volunteers to help at specific events, but perhaps you are good at writing or designing or have a business that offers services we may be able to use?

If you would like to help, volunteer your skills in any way or join the committee, please get in touch with Ruth, our Chair, on ruthbrazier2018@gmail.com.  We are a very friendly bunch and would love to meet you.

What does the PTFA do with the funds it raises?

In April 2019 we purchased 2 table tennis tables to put in the school playground, along with 6 bats and 50 balls, for the use of the students during break or lunch time.  Here are some photos of the PTFA handing the tables over to Mr Neil and some of the students.
