As part of our ‘Aspire to Higher Education’ programme, we were pleased to welcome back, if only via online, The Speakers Trust to deliver a workshop to a group of Year 10 students. This workshop’s aim was to make our students better communicators with a greater awareness of speaking out. Communication skills are vital for young people to achieve their potential, both at school and in the workplace. The Speakers Trust helps to empower them to have confidence and ability to influence social change. The workshops help students to overcome nerves, learn how to listen and give back positive and constructive feedback. During the workshop, and using the techniques taught, our students were able to deliver a short speech based on an interest, event or personal experience. The first of many we hope.
