The Bar Mock Trial Competition

Regional Finals Saturday 10 November 2018

15 students from year 10 and 11 took part in the Bar Mock Trial Competition. This has involved a great deal of time and effort from the students who have used their enrichment time, lunchtimes, after school and even the holidays to get ready for the competition.

The Bar Mock Trial Competition helps young people understand how the law touches every aspect of their lives. By taking part in the competition, young people can improve their life skills- such as critical thinking and public speaking- whilst also gaining an insight into how the legal justice system works.

The students took on a range of roles found in a criminal trial-such as prosecutor, defendant and witness. They competed against schools from across the West Midlands in the actual court rooms at Stafford Crown Court.

The students had a fantastic experience which I am sure will stay with them for life. They were praised by both judges and members of staff from other schools.
